Located in the small village of Bahapur, this place is the main attraction of New Delhi and it is the main temple of the Indian continent and it has won many awards for its beautiful architecture. Apart from seeing the beauty of this place, it has been described in many publications and many TV programs, and it has won many awards in different jurisdictions.
Like all other Bahá'í temples, Baha'i place of worship of Delhi is open to people of all religions, as has been said in Baha'i religion. Although people of any sect are allowed to gather here, pray and pronounce religious monuments related to their community, but no one is allowed to preach or religious rituals in this religious place.
Let's see what was the idea behind making 'Lotus Temple' in such a way. According to the Bahá'í scripture, the founder of Bahai Dharma - Baha'ullah's son, Abdul Bahad, clearly stated that the place of worship should be rounded with nine steps, there should not be any idol or picture inside this place, any kind of structure inside The altar or platform should not be built. The Lotus Temple of Delhi has been built just like other Bahai temples.
This typical building in Delhi is inspired by the flower of the lotus and is made of 27 stone marble standing in the form of petals. In order to form nine different sides, they have been arranged in three groups of three. There are nine doors in this building, when you enter any of them, you reach the main hall, which has the capacity to collect 2500 people at a time. Located in 26 acres of land, this room is about 40 meters high and is surrounded by nine ponds and some beautiful gardens.
Apart from the uniqueness of its architecture, there are many other features of the Lotus Temple. While it has received various awards because of its outstanding work since its establishment, it has been shown in books, Indian postal stamps, music, newspapers, magazines and TV programs. In 2001, it was also described in the Guinness Book of Records because it was the religious place of the year that was most visited.
