Uttarakhand is the 27th state of the Indian republic, from 2000 to 2006 it was known as Uttaranchal. In January 2007, the official name of the state was changed to Uttarakhand. Dehradun is the capital of Uttarakhand as well as the largest city in the state.


Uttarakhand, often called "the place of Gods" and "Paradise made on earth". In the state of Uttarakhand, the holiest of Hindu religion and India's largest rivers are the source of Ganges and Yamuna, which are called Gangotri and Yamunotri and there are many important places of pilgrimage in Vedic culture situated on their banks.

Here there are glaciers, snow-laden mountains, a valley of flowers, skiing slopes and dense forests, many religious places and pilgrimages are also found here.

The most sacred shrines of Hindus are found in the temple of the Himalayas: Badrinath, Kedarnath. Of which Badrinath is actually a part of the four Dhams. Also, Haridwar is called the door to go to God's house, which is only in Uttarakhand.

Under Gangotri river system, from the Satluj in the west to the Kali river in the east, it is caught up to 300 km of water flows. After Kanchenjunga (28160 feet), Nanda Devi (25640 feet) is India's second highest peak. The other summers include the Dunagiri, Nilkanth, Chaukambha, Panchchuli, Trishul. These peaks are believed to be the home of Gods, Yaksha, Kinnar, angels, and Sants. There are also some ancient hill areas, which mainly include Mussoorie, Almora, Dwarahat, Ranikhet, and Nainital.
