Maharashtra is one of the most visited states by foreign tourists in India. More than 4.3 million foreign tourists have made an official visit here in 2014. Maharashtra has a large number of popular and revered religious places. Aurangabad is the tourist capital of Maharashtra.
Ajanta caves, Elephanta caves, Ellora caves, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus are highly responsible for four UNESCO World Heritage sites and development of tourism in the state.
